A recent study published in the journal PLOS One, found that microscopic microplastics can penetrate deep into your lungs as you breathe air in your home and car. Researchers suggest that long-term exposure to microplastics and their additives can increase the risk of developing neurodevelopmental disorders, reproductive birth defects, infertility, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. There are ways to cut back on plastic, such as avoiding foods wrapped in plastic film and plastic shopping bags. Read the full CNN article here.
