The tobacco industry is increasingly pivoting to non-traditional types of tobacco consumption, including e-cigarettes and tobacco pouches. Evidence supports that several of these products were targeted at youth specifically. In addition, there is mounting concern about the environmental impacts of tobacco product waste, as well as concern that young children may inadvertently put waste products, such as used tobacco pouches, into their mouths and subsequently ingest them. This article discusses the recent student findings of environmental hazards in Bay Area high schools from vaping and smoking.
