Most pregnant women carry dozens of untested chemicals

Stanford researcher and environmental health scientist Tracey Woodruff discusses new data revealing widespread chemical exposure among pregnant women – and what consumers and policymakers can do to reduce risk. The study found that pregnant women were exposed to dozens of chemicals at once, but just over 20 out of 40,000 chemicals have gone through the full risk assessment process under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Toxics Substances Control Act, the primary law governing chemicals.
