Growing concerns over chemicals leaching from plastic products have led many parents to seek out safer, plastic-free feeding tools for their children. Chemicals added to some plastics, such as bisphenol and phthalates, have been associated with health impacts like endocrine disruption, obesity, and neurodevelopmental disruption. Because children’s bodily systems are still developing, they may be particularly susceptible to these compounds.
After 50 hours of testing 34 different nonplastic feeding tools, this article provides recommendations that have been identified across three primary materials: silicone, stainless steel, and glass.
